Hi All,
I work with the HR Department of a Factory in Gujarat. We are looking at setting up an Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee for our organization along with rolling out a policy on the same.
Could you please provide suggestions on how to plan for this and how best we can set up the committee and create awareness org wide. Thank you very much.
Warm Regards
Amrita

Hello Amrita,
First of all u have to get approval from the top management to frame the committee. Then u have to frame policy of that committee which must be include policy's objective. Then u have to opt departmental vise employee list who will be member of this committee and who will also be changed after 6 months or year.
Then call committee to meet with proper agenda and after finishing, u have to prepare M.O.M and thus yr committee go further.
If any query send mail or contact.

A minimum of two and maximum of seven members usually comprises of the panel, out of which more than 50% should be female members. The committee should be redressal forum where the facts and statements should be recorded by all the parties involved (aggrieved and accused) followed by a session of confrontation if required. The committee members should be changed through internal selection process after regular intervals. The committee should be independent in nature and should be dominated by any person of authority. All the complaints received, and proceeding done and meetings conducted should be recorded through M.O.M. (minutes of meeting) without fail. It will ensure strictness, fair judgment and will avoid twisting of facts at any stage.

I agree that sexual harassment is mostly done to women. But nobody should deny the fact that some men are also being harassed sexually either by their female boss or by homosexual boss.
Is the law for sexual harassment same for women and men?

There cannot be a law which you cannot enforce. It is natural for men to look at beautiful persons of the opposite sex.
Do you think you can work in an organisation where all males and females are segregated.
Have more opportunities to work with your colleahues.Ask aperson in your team to help you and see the difference.
For EG. In western countries like UK Friday night is party time. Each section or group(males and females. of say 15 to 20 persons decide to party once a week.
It is optional all or some of the party animals always like the outings. The payment is shared by all.Sometimes paries are sponsored by senior managers or someone who has got a raise.
Marriage/ birthdays/and festivals are celebrated together.Once ayear even family members are invited for the do.
