Sirs,
I work in Coimbatore. My employer deducts PF. For KYC updation my employer insisted for PAN which i do not have. Then i googled and showed the EPFO notification asking for any of the listed documents. So, i provided my Aadhar no. for updating my KYC. But still they are instisting for PAN saying that Coimbatore RO says its a must to get PAN. Pls let me know ,does the EPF India notification interpretation differs from RO to RO.
Next issue, i have two savings account where myself and my husbund are joint holders. My employer insists that EPF needs a SB account where am the primary holder, indirectly asking me to open a separate SB a/c for me...pls help me to tackle the situations.
thanks in advance,
bhuvana.

Your employer is right to ask for bank account. Bank account is mandatory for PF KYC. Nowadays it is very easy to get the bank account opened. You can even get it opened under "Jan Dhan Yojna". Please not to be confused and open the account immediately as EPF is forcing employer to update the KYC asap.

Hi,
1. This is relates the matter of Appropriate Govt.
as per section Section-2 (a) Appropriate Govt means, in relation to an establishment belonging to, or under the control of, the Central Government or in relation to, an establishment connected with a railway company, a major port, a mine or an oil-filed or a controlled industry or in relation to an establishment having departments or branches in more than one State, the Central Government: and
(ii) in relation to any other establishment, the State Government:
a. Now, appropriate govt issued any circular or any notification states, Instead of Adhara card to collect PAN card only.(if yes then you must)
b. Bank A/c is Mandatory for the UAN, better to open saving A/c in any bank ( Single A/c).

dear madam,
KYC needs any of the following documents:-
 National Population Register, AADHAR, Permanent Account Number, Bank Account Number
 Passport, Driving License, Election Card, Ration Card
But indirectly it was highlighted that Aadhar and PAN are necessary (not compulsory). As you can see the attached list by EPFO, they had segregated members with Aadhar, PAN and Bank account.
Joint account is accepted for settlement of EPF till today. But as you can see, if the account is in your name alone, it becomes more easy to claim your individuality.
lastly, you can update your KYC without PAN you can also provide joint account. But if there is a PAN and individual account, it will be more easy for the process by EPFO and Employer.
