Greetings!
My name is Abhijit Vichare and I am currently pursuing my 'PGDBA' distance learning course in 'Human Resources' specialisation.
For the academic purpose, I need a few case-studies related to the topics mentioned below -
1. There is a registered labour union in a factory and it is demanding wage increment. Some of the members of this union are on strike and gathered outside the gates of the factory and they are engaged in yelling anti-management slogans but not physically stopping other workers who intend to work from entering the factory. However, the management decides to terminate the workers on strike. Is this justifiable? What is the roll of HR in here?
2. There is a political unrest in the area where the factory is located. Taking advantage of the situation, the workmen vandalised the factory and set it on fire and the incident came in to picture after investigation. This action was led by the anger for not getting wage increments for a couple of years. The factory is following unethical practices such as no wage increments, systematically terminating workmen demanding wage increments, hiring temporary workers at the half salary of what is being paid to full time workers.
In this scenario, please provide a case study that focuses on
a. 'Healthy Industrial Relations Policy' for being legal compliant.
b. How should the workers have handled the grievances
