hi,
when a company has first round as a written test. what do they expect to judge or see in you. because recently i sat for TACO and they shortlisted candidates who performed(scored) 12-15 questions correctly out of 20. so is this a policy of few companies to take mediocre people too.
pls help me out.
i have few more interviews coming up and dont want to spoil them.
thanks

Hi Chetna,
As there are many candidates for the interview, there has to be some scale for them to judge as it is not possible for them to conduct interview for all the candidates.
So, to avoid this written test is done. Many of the times it happens that the right candidate gets knocked away, but nothing can be done about it. The best way in these interviews is to attempt all the questions, especially because many of the questions are optional type. We will see very less descriptive type of questions.

but the thing which struck me was that the people who attempted more than 16 and are supposed to be the toppers didnt get through..... just the candidates who attempted 12-15 questions got shortlisted...
is this funda applied for all companies.

Hi Praveen,
The companies especially MNC companies would have 3 - 4 rounds of interview's and 5 - 6 rounds especially for voice process.
1. Aptitude Test.
2. Group Discussion (GD).
3. HR round.
4. Ops Round.
5. Technical round.
6. Voice and Accent round (Voice process).
Various tests could be:
Very commonly it is Aptitude test - sometimes contains all the sections like General knowledge, Numerical ability, Analytical ability, Logical reasoning and attention to detail and rarely technical questions also (related to your subject of study).
Or
Few companies would have the above mentioned section divided into different tests with various names so called Technical Test, Numerical Test etc....
