My company is currently recruiting content writers and I am responsible for doing the initial screening of candidates along with HR screening.
After the initial screening from my side I have to send the appropriate candidates to the senior content writer and the process goes on.
This is the first time I am doing the screening of content writers and have least idea about it.
What all should be the basic questions relating to content writing that I need to ask the candidates?
Please help.

what type of content writing is this?
Check if the candidate has previous experience in content writing in the required subject.
Check required experience versus held experience. if you can get more inputs from your existing content writers on the type of project they are working on, you can check if the candidate has relevant similar experience.
