Dear Franidhar,

Good to note that you wish to pursue your career in learning and development. However, whatever the discipline of HR may be, learning or development or otherwise, growth matters. Are you growing in your career? Though you are an old member, you have not participated in HR-related discussions or training-related discussions. Your posts were related to PF or ESI. So how come your sudden interest in learning and development?

Nevertheless, you have raised the query, therefore, let me answer it. You can do a Diploma from ISTD. However, the syllabus of this course is very old but as it is a government body, the fees are not high. You can do a TTT from a private institute also but it will cost you a bomb.

In the last 15 years of training, I have interacted with HR or training professionals from a large number of industries. The common malaise amongst them is not measuring the ROI on training. This is notwithstanding the training course being done from a hi-fi institute. Therefore, notwithstanding the grandness of a tree, wood was missed anyway!

Have you organised the employee training in your company? If yes, what did you learn by arranging the training programmes?

Very recently, I have given my comments on the employee training. You may go through it by clicking the following link:

In the above link, you will get one more link. That is my distinguished reply on employee training.

Thanks,
