In our organisation we have leave for diwali on 4th(Thu) & 5th(Fri) of Nov'10. weekly five days working day. So if a staff goes to his home town on 2nd (Tue) and he comes back on 9th (Tuesday). In that case how many days will be calculated as leave, in this case whether sat'day & sunday will be included as leave or not.

Hi Sudha,
It entirely depends on ur leave policy, like in our org we will not count the holiday or weekends in bw only the working day leave will be counted... so this thing is governed only by leave policy.

Hi, In case an employee is on leave on the Friday and also on MOnday then LOP is calculated for the weekend also. Regards, Divya

In case of casual leave, Saturday and Sunday are paid weekly off and are not treated as leave.
In case of all other leave (PL, ML, EL etc.) if the Saturday and Sunday are prefixed or suffixed to the leave, this is not included in the leave, if the permission is sought in advance. However if Saturday and Sunday (or any other holiday) falls within the leave period that is counted as Leave.

It Depends on the Leave Policy of the company.
In our company if any empls. take leave on both prefixed and post fixed of the holiday then he have to apply the leave for whole period and if there he dont have any leave it is consider to be LWP.

Most of the company policies allow to either prefix or suffix the leaves with holidays (festival / weekend). In case holidays come in between leaves, in such cases, all the holidays in between leaves are counted as leave (with or with out pay, as applicable)

As indicated by our HR colleagues it entirely depends on your company's leave policy. But it would be logical if the leave is availed when the employee has leave to his credit not to count the intervening holidays. On the other hand if he does not have leave to his account then the intervening holidays may be counted for calculating the LOP days.

In the above case :
If he/she is taking the leave on Friday i.e. casual leave then we will considered as one day leave.
If he/she takes on Friday and Monday we have to considered all the four days as all the leave which is given to employee is paid leave.
