Dear Sowmya,

You need not do any course for soft skill training. These skills are to be imbibed over a period of time.

Work as an HR Generalist and gather as much experience as you can. To be a successful trainer, you should be an experienced person first. A trainer devoid of experience is like a parrot - who talks much but flies little.

When you gather your experience, attend your company's training classes as many as you can. Understand the delivery style of as many trainers as you can. This will be helpful to you in the future.

In addition to this, never wait for your company to conduct some training program. The way the company allocates part of the HR budget for training, you also should allocate part of your earnings for sharpening your skills. This will take you a long way.

Once a week, I get a query for entering into the training field. I just ask one simple question - how many training programs have you attended? I get their answer as none! If you have not attended any training, how can you think of becoming a trainer? It is very strange. Sitting in the pavilion, these persons wanted to become test cricketers, what a joke?

Ok...
