Good day, My name is Valentine Osuorah and I am a HR Manager for a technology firm. I would like to ask what kind of things can be presented in a weekly HR report that involves strategy. I have been giving reports on how the office has been run, number of vacancies and recruitment, trainings but it seems its not good enough. I have been advised that my weekly report should be more strategic. I would really appreciate if anyone could be of help.

Dear Valentine,
First and foremost, there cannot be weekly report on "strategy". I request you to update yourself on the terms that you use. Strategy is quite nebulous concept and it cannot have weekly report. It appears that neither your seniors are clear about the concept of strategy. To clarify yourself on this count, check this 1:48 minute video clip of Michael Porter, the international guru in the field of strategy:

Secondly, it is the responsibility of the seniors to provide the format in which they want the information from the juniors. This is the typical problem many private organisation. In contrast, in government organisation, senior officers provide the format of the reports and returns to the juniors.
Therefore, it is better if you talk with your seniors on the format in which they want the report. Earlier there was similar query on HR Statistics on this forum. I have given reply to that post. Check the following link to refer it:

The above links is useful for quarterly or half-yearly reports. Nevertheless, some points will be useful.
Thanks,
