As you are aware that effective from 1st August 2008, professional tax slabs has been revised in Karnataka, I would like to share the details I have received on this.
Hitherto Profession Tax was applicable for Employees drawing salary of Rs3,000/- and above per month.Consequently,PT Payable was Rs30/- for Salary slab of Rs3,000/- to 4,999/-
W.E.F.1-08-2008, Employees drawing salary upto Rs4,999/-Per Month are exempted from payment of PT.The existing slab w.e.f.1-08-2008 is as below:
1.Rs5,000/-to Rs7,999/-- Rs60/-
2.Rs8,000/- to Rs9,999/- Rs100/-
3.Rs10,000/-to Rs14,999/- Rs150/-
4.Rs.15,000/- and above Rs200/-

Hello Frenz,I am in a cinfusion regarding PT deduction. I am working in Bangalore and my question is what and all has to be considered to find the slab. Whether it is oinly the fixed monthly salary or we have to consider other allowances which are variable. Plez be more specific if allowances have to cinsidered... not required PT on LTA. As LTA is benefit given by an employer were he can save tax. Regards Gopal
