Hi Shobha

Even I was in the same situation. I was System Admin & EDP executive both are into technical. I learnt Payroll while working as EDP Executive. I had around 8 years of experience into EDP. I felt some course on HR will help me for getting HR Job. More over I din't do MBA or Diploma course in HR.

I joined HR House in Koramangala Branch. Our batch was the first branch of that branch. They give bit idea about HR and IR. They assure as they will provide job opportunity but none of our batch mates got job from HR House.

Then Later I did my MBA in distance mode from Madra University and with lots of efforts I gained HR knowledge and compliance.

Infact I joined for a consultancy firm for low salary than I was drwaing just gain experience. I worked for that consultation office for 1 year and gained sufficient knowledge on Payroll, compliance & statutory

Now I am working as HR/Admin manager for small IT industry

In my case and other persons HR House din't help. I am not telling it is not usefull but you should put effort to learn Generalist role

:) All the best

Dear Shobha,
There are 2 prospects for your Q
Whether you want to go for business school which has name in market and is not AICTE OR UGC approved
Ideally there are many business school which do not have above affiliation but are having good quality of education and are paid well in market b'coz of their curriculum which is based as per industry specifications
i.e people to do the job
choice remains with you

Hi Coolhero,
Thanks again for the prompt reply:)
To be frank, i am looking out for a course which would teach me the responsibilities of a Generalist i.e if i can put it this way - "All in one" kind of.
And, do you have any idea about the course offered by HR House? If you could help me out on this, would be grateful.

Hi Shoba,
Gen HR profile covers wide spectrum of HR activities
any management course which you do in HR will touch upon activities which are concern with Gen-HR profile that will be on theoretical point
what i mean to say : lets say if you have to face an compliance audit by labour officer studies will help you to know the acts and law
but dealing with labour officer require interpersonal skills, communication and negotiating skills which you would only gain when you practically Handel this issues
I would suggest do course in HR which will help you in knowledge enhancement
I am based in Mumbai and have no idea about HR House

Dev

Hi Dev,
That's right. There's a huge difference theoretical and practicality. And that is were i am confused.
I already hold a PG Diploma in HR. That was done through distance from Symbiosis. During those days, books were read just to get through with the exams and get a degree and not to gain knowledge, atleast in my case.
So, what i have thought out is to re-read those HR books and simultaneously do a course at HR House.
Once done with the course, am blank about what to start with.
Would you mind sharing your path after those certifications you had done you mentioned? Are you currently into a
Generalist profile?

Shoba
