Dear Sonia, usually people write negotiable, but again there has to be some figure. if u ask me about the same, I would say "NO". Regards Vipin:icon1:

it is very difficult to answer such type of typical question because you only can know your market value and you only can assess about you.generally people write negotiable but you have to come out at the time of interview and that u only can assess about youself.

Basically, while deciding on this aspect of employment we take into account many assumptions and presumptions....For example
Nature of Jobs- Job description/delegation of authority/decision making etc
Level of Jobs- Position in Organizational Hierarchy
Company's Profile-PSU/Pvt Ltd/Public Limited/MNC etc
Market trends- Demand and Supply
Maximum Salary range for this position- Benchmark salary
Finally we decide on our current salary- Excepted salary growth rate
But, I always count the risk factor while quoting my excepted salary because:
I have proved my worth in my present organization they have confidence on ability as well as capabilities.... I have lesser employment risk with current organization..
But while change I take risk and my new venture may or may not work so while joining new organization I take risk for my employment to perform and to the exceptation of my future employer...
Here you have to select price for this risk in case of worst situation you must have sufficient wherewithall to bounce back..

What are the objectives behind asking "expected salary" in interviews..???
When you had decided to pay me not morethan Rs. 25,000/- pm, irrespective of my expectations...(may expect sth more) you would offer me, if i agree with you for the same. But why this query has become an important querry in interviews.....????

Basically there are many facet of this question.
Employer is unknown of candidate’s salary package on record whatever you project that is not reliable.
Secondly they do not waste time an energy in cross check with previous employer your current salary because that always never work as most of employers do not respond to such queries when employee decides to quit job either they try to retain him by offering more than offered by next employer or ask him to give notice period for his replacement.
In both the cases are hindrances to his joining new organization once candidates are exposed that they are willing for change to his present employer.
By asking him his excepted salary interviewer wants to make themselves assured that candidate’s expectation to join that will be motivating and incentive to new incumbent, otherwise it will end up in futile exercise and in every six months they will have to recruit people for same position.

let me tell you a small trick here. firstly when you go for an interview you need to know how much they were paying for the same position and this is certainly not a tough task. if youy can find and mould your answer accordingly ... i am sure you ll get the job ...
the basic component, HRA, DA, Medical allowance, pf etc., components vary from company to company all these diff components together will make yout CTC (cost to the comapny) but your in hand amount will depend on the ratios of these components. example : your basic, HRA, DA, Medical etc.,
so i what i mean is .... your expected salary/offered salary ,ay always be too high for your in hand amt....

I too knew that, every employer has his own slab to pay the salaries based on the previous pay structure.. and can you let me know how would we be able to know the salary they could offer before facing interview....!!
