Have a company ID card for employee on probation. If he successfully completes probation then company visiting card can be made. This will prevent possible misuse of company visiting cards

Also, if the employee exits from organization irrespective of the fact that he/she is conformed/probationer must deposit the company I-Card/Visiting Card with an undertaking that he/she does not posses them anymore, this protects the company legally for future possible abuse of its stationeries.

An ID Card is necessary for an employee to enter the premises of work establishment. Otherwise how will the Security Guard allow entry or how to distinguish and this will help avoid unpleasant situations at the gate. These days ID cards are embellished with bio-metric information and would help in marking attendance etc. As regards visiting card is necessary, all employees having public dealings like people in sales, purchase, coordination with external agencies like bank, government agencies etc need to have it for effective introduction from the earliest days of employment itself otherwise it could be embarrassing for the concerned staff. Thus ID card is a must for all employees and saves many issues of identity of issue, security of establishment, attendance system etc, the issue of visiting card to the probation could be based on nature of employment.

Dear Ismail,
While accepting with the seniors version here on ID cards, visiting cards shall in general be issued to key personnel who share their details either to customers, visitors,on liasoning jobs etc. So Visiting card issue has to be made at the discretion of the Management after deciding the individual employee confidence, depending on the employee cadre and job function.

Dear Friend,
Identity cards are issued to all employees irrespective of the status whether permanent, probationer, or temporary. this is collected/submitted at the time of leaving the company.
Visiting cards are issued based on the role requirement. If a role is not interfacing with the outside agency/company/people, it is not issued. More over you can not monitor the use/misuse of Visiting card.
Some employees return the visiting cards and some dont. We are living in modern world, what misuse can be done by outgoing employee? May be minuscule.
I do not think we should waste time on these trifles.
Warm Regards

As stated by some Sr. Members, ID Card is required & essential to identify, verify the particular employee in the Factory, Co. Premises and Emp.Code No. Can be allotted to the employees linking to ID Card for easy identification, verification in HRIS, PF, ESI etc.,
Visiting Cards with Name & Designation printed on it; are normally given to Officers, Managers, Engineers & above as they have to interact & represent the Co. With clients, Govt.Officers etc., Management can frame rules to restrict for others like Supervisors, Staff etc., on need basis. There is also practice to give Simple Co.Card without Name & Design. To needy employees to reduce printing cost as in case of individual Officers, Managers.
