I am working in a pvt. co. as a HR Head, this is my first co. and I ve joined this organisation as a Consultant HR (on 1st of April 06) within one month only I got promoted to Sr. Executive HR & Marcomm. than on 1st of Jan 07 i again got promoted as a Corporate HR Manager till date I am working on the same designation in my Co.
So in all as of today my tenure is 1 Year 5 months. Now as I will be moving to Bombay in January '08 coz of some personal reasons. I would like to part my duties from my current organization (resignation) just coz we have no branch in Bombay.
Even though its 4 whole months with me, Earlier I had plans to resign by September end n wanted to be relieved by October end but now as I feel that every one knows that I will leave, I feel ignored many times and its also effecting my work adversely.
So before things will get worse I m planning to leave the organization and want to resign today itself, serving one months notice period, I’ll again look for a change in march ’08 to join some other organization there in Bombay itself.
:?: Getting to the Point my questions are:
1) Is my decision correct to resign today itself or else I am taking this step in a hassle?
2) Whether, taking a break for 6 months would be negative for my career in future or not.
3) As I have been promoted as a HR Head within a short span of time, would I be able to justify this in future course of action to my next Company.
Please do help me out in this

Firs of all congrats on such a speedy climb..belive me you must be a great worker. To reach such a height and level in one's career is good..kudos!!
regarding your decisions. I think you should be in the Company till your last working day. Why are you feeling ignored? Dont let that feeling sink in you..I feel you should overlook all of this and work till your level best till last date. Regarding your break. If you are getting married or in family way, then its ok. Else taking such a long break is not advisable. Maybe you could do a short course or something but please please do not take any break from work.

The last question is little tricky friend, whether you are going to get the similar position has the answer in your exposure and your talent..and your zeal to learn.....ALL THE BEST :)

Next time never inform about leaving the company. Only send the Notice to your immediate superior,,,it will prevent all problems

If you feel lonely, then try this. Ask your management to offer some project sort of thing which could be completed say within 4-5 months. This would help you in many ways
1. This would stop your inactivity
2. This would also bring some confidence among ur colleagues
3. You would get to learn new things.

what you are going through is waht we call as the Withdrawal syndrome.
All your symtoms suggest that.
what you may want to do is counter it
1) Complete your notice period.
2) finish of your tenure by doing something productive for the org.
3) If people do not involve you, you involve them.
4) Its not a good idea to burn bridges, nor is it a good idea to leave the bridge closed.
Just consider this.

Good for u but dont do anything in a haste. Talk about your feelings with your superiors and try to sort it. Help them find someone and handover. You do this because of loyalty and also becasue the world is very small and u may run into them at some place else. leave gracefully, carry recommendations etc before u quit. Dont take such a long break unnecessarily. Ahead agian when u have a family ect u will need to take these breaks - avoid if possible.

I feel, you were in totally love with your company and thinking that you shared your news of leaving company four months in advance. The news spread within the company like anything, that you have a feeling that you're left out, i mean you're being ignored. Love your job, your work but dont love your company, because its love will change when you'll leave.
No., I don't think so, you're not being ignored. You, yourself has become a little lazy on the job, i mean kind of lackness...which one think before he/she leaves. People are same, but you confident on the job has gone below the average level, that's why you feel being ignored on the job.
Re-think and give up the thought for next 3 months that you'll be leaving the company, just start working like you did when you were an Executive, you can't go up (as you're Head), thus instead you may regain your confidence back.
If you still feel, there is nothing wrong, people are really ignoring you. Take it as a challenge. Continue working in the same company and giving your best at all times.
Break of 6 months is not advisable at all. And how can a creative person sit at a home doing nothing?
Regarding your fast success ladder till the position of Corp. HR Manager (or HR Head), I can only say, HR Manager is the middle level position in every industry and in every middle or top level Organisation.
A Vice President of a small firm will always be hired as GM of a Big and famous MNC and in the same way, the HR Manager will be hired somewhere near Dy./Asst Manager or Sr. Executive. This depends upon the size of Organisation. This also depends upon your relevant experience with the new Organisation. But you surely can justify the early success you gained in 1.5 years in the existing company.

You are doing a great job, I believe you like working in your present organization if so, find means to continue working till your planned stay in that place. When you leave, you should be known for what you have been. Don't make the present situation be the reason to for you to resign.
