think you are in a great confusion!! three are different things and have different career prospectives. this is my sugestion to you to think first which career path you want to choose. the job responsibility of a CS is differ from the HRM though CS has to know the basic law relating employment. the main job function of a CS in a company is to provide legal guide relating to companies act, issuing of shares and deventures, issues related forex & securities ect. whereas the function of an hR you know....and i believe Phd only have academic career to one....

Mr. Madhu, I am Srivathsa Desikan doing Master of Social Work(HRM) through the Madurai Institute of Social Sciences. Moreover, I have also completed CS(Exexutive) course through ICSI. Gonna write final in December. I feel CS is a high profession then that of HR. I suggest u to do CS where u become master of many laws including labour laws which are main for HR. Who told you that HR Profession doesn't have same status compared to CS??
Have you got experienced in it or simply saying it blindly....
Without knowing anything or without getting experienced you should not judge any profession.
Every Profession has their own value....
Second thing:Please don't use this site for posting unnecessary things...without any prior knowledge on those things.

Please be kind in your words, these type of words doesnt suite to HR professionals, HR person are the bridge joining employees and employers so they have to be very kind in nature.
I agree with your emotions but the way you people are behaving towards shrivatsa in really very strange.
Today there a post dedicate to a blind boy in which the author described the way of communication (the harsh or direct and the soft or pleasing) both phrase gave the same requirement yet in a different manner.

Being a HR in one company I do know how to respond to the people...
I even Know that nobody are perfect in this world and all of them will not be experts in all the things/matters/skills......
If they don't know they should ask others na......simply blindly they should not assume things and comment on other Profession...
Since Mr. Shrivatsa is giving advise to Mr. Madhu regarding to his career part.....He should be experienced in it or he should be having some knowledge on that...

I am not underestimating any profession but I feel CS has more value as it gives a higher value as it is certified by the ICSI. Here is the answer to your queries.....
Company Secretary's work is to mainly look into the legal matters of a firm or organization. It also mainly is a multifaceted job which has the knowledge and the affiliation towards every conceivable department in the organization.
A CS also maintains balance in Organisation with importance given to legal soundness, which is one of the most imperative qualities/responsibilities of a CS.
A Company Secretary also looks into the financial / legislative and the legal aspects to do with the organization. If the company is public or deciding to go public, then the public issue matters fall under the responsibility of the CS.
So in a way CS supports all the functions providing legal knowledge wherever required including HR Department.
Now coming to the next part of your question, A phd in HR is not only for academic purpose but also can be utilized for research in many organisation. I have seen Many FPM or People who have achieved Doctorate degree working in good companies like Thomas Cook, Tata and others.
But before you select any of these as your career path... i would suggest you to wrtie on a peace of paper about your interests in life, what is that you want to do...DO not jump for things that others are doing and are successful...but opt for a thing which interests you Madhu. It will surely bring good results.
