Dear All,
At the time of my joining (June 2010) in the company, in my joining letter it was mentioned that I'll receive certain Rs. X thousand as retention amount after completion of 4 years with the company. Last year from 1st July 2013, I was on Educational leave and that was total LOP. I joined back this month. Company HR is saying you are not entitled to receive retention amount this year. But I think that although it is true that I didn't serve the company last year but I was employee of the company and was on LOP. I should get the amount.
Please suggest.

Just my opinion - for one year you did not contribute to the company. Otoh, the company adjusted to your wishes to study further which may help you a lifetime, while you could leave the company any time.
So, I don't think the company is being unfair.
Btw, it may have been better to clarify this before going on leave.

Hi,
Every company is transparent with their policies,
1. Go and consult Hr and ask them for retention policy and eligibility for retention.
if as per company norms you will not be fit for that, then your employer is right.
