I went through the notification pertaining to Minimum wages for Mharashtra appliacble from July-Dec14 for shop and establishment . New DA is Rs 2214/- per month and exsting one , applicable between Jan-June14 , was Rs 2181 /- .
Does it mean per month increase is just Rs 33 ?
The change in base rate from 5000/- per month to 6600/- (for unskilled ) is applicable to shop and establishment as well or only to the enginerring industry .
Please help me to understand this.

Dear Gauri,
I don't see any point in your surprise. Do you expect every time(after six months) there should be a hefty increase in Spl. Allowance / DA ? Do you know, how this Spl Allow/DA is calculated on every six months ?
Based on the CPI number of select essential items (decided by respective State Govt/s ) , this Spl Allow / DA is calculated and accordingly revised to tame the inflationary impact.

Our company is an engineering industry and it is situated in Zone 3.
Let me tell you why govt of Maharashtra has increased such a low DA/Special allowances
Our Old Minimum wages were
Unskilled -3130+2899 =6029
Semi Skilled -3230+2899 =6063
Skilled - 3330+2899 =6229
In the month of March 2014 they changed minimum wages structure as following
Unskilled -6000+1624 =7624
Semi Skilled -6500+1624 =8124
Skilled - 7200+1624 =8824
So following direct increase is made by the govt in minimum wages
Unskilled -1595 rise
Semi Skilled -2101 rise
Skilled -2595 rise
Hence current DA/SA for engineering industry is Rs.1652/- Means only 28 rupees increased.
Why only 28 rupees? because govt has already increased their basic wages by Rs.1500/- Rs.2000/- & Rs/2500/- Approx
So govt has already put a burden on employer and does not want to add an additional burden on employer this is the fact.
