Dear Senthil,

Your question is not clear to me.
With whom you want to register as contract labor?
There is no need for registration of employee under the TN Catering Establishments Act,1958; on the other hand only establishments need to be registered under the Act.
If you are a contractor supplying 20 or more no of labor to any Catering Establishment under a contract with the establishment, you have to obtain a contractor's licence and the establishment has to register itself as the principal employer under the CLRA Act,1970.
In case you are an employee of a catering establishment, you would be covered by the Tamilnadu Labor Welfare Fund Act,1970 by means of an annual subscription payable by your employer and yourself.

Dear Senthil,

Chennai city has got three Licensing Officers under the CLRAA,1970 viz., Asst Commisioner of Labor ( Enforcement ) I, II and III. You have to approach the officer under whose geographical area where your contract labor are likely to be deputed and obtain licence after paying the licence fee, security deposit depending on the no of contract labor together with a form provided by the Principal Employer.

Better enquire at the Labor Commisioner's Office at D.M.S Compound, Teynampet, Chennai-6
