Dear friends, I need a suggestion from you. I have been working in a company for last 13 years and my present designation is Executive - Personal & Admin Department. Initially, I joined as an Assistant in Purchase Dept. Later on I was transferred to P&A Dept. My present ctc is only 2.41 lacs. Recently I completed my MA in HR and MBA in HR. I have attended interviews in two big companies. They have rejected my profile since my age is 39 years, my present designation is only Executive & my present ctc is only 2.41 lacs. I have explained everything about my company's policy, but I was rejected. Now my company position is not well.

Our management is asking me to wait for another 2 months. Now I got an offer from a big company as Asst. Manager - HR, but CTC is only 2.65 lacs. I discussed with my management regarding my designation. I requested him to give me designation as Asst. Manager - HR, then I can wait 6 months also. If anything happens to the company, easily I can get a good job in any company. But he is not ready to give designation. He is saying that if they give designation, another person who is working in another department will feel bad since he has been working for 15 years (but his qualification is B.com). Now, what should I do? I want to join that new company. Is my decision is correct?

Since the company’s position is not good and you have worked for 13 yrs hence better to switch over. Regards - kamesh

Hi Ganesh,
I am agreed to Kamesh's view. You should move if you have got an opportuinty somewhere else. But be ensure to get an offer letter before you surrender your resignation and check the new company's policies and procedure also. Money and designation comes automatically with your efforts but landing in a wrong place might put you in trouble. So be patient and check the new company's details and if everything Ok then please move.

My suggestion to you, you are working for past 13years. i think you know the companies situations and positions cum growth also, so you may judge future of which you are working. and you must organize your mind. Finally you can show your efforts to you company which you will get benefit and all scales. This is only my suggestion which is best for you life that quote only follow.

Dear friends,
Thanks for your suggestion. Already I received an offer letter from new company and given my resignation. I inquired about the company policies. They have some strict rules. Anyway I want to adjust there for 1 one year and ready to face any problems. One thing I am unable to understand. Why my present employer is comparing me with other employee even he doesn't have qualification and smartness.

Ganesh, Qualification doesn't matter at times especially in HR related process wherein there is much of people handling. There is someone's intllectual skills matter which are natural at times. So I would recommend you not to use such remarks for anyone which also in future would be nagative for you.

Dear Harpreet,

I agree with you, qualification doesn't matter. One example I would like to share with you that happened in my company. I have been appointed as Coordinator in Jan, 2011 for one important activity and our employer promised me to pay some allowance to that particular activity. After 5 months, he informed me that he doesn't want to pay, because, if my salary is increased, that person feel bad. Is it correct? The main problem with that employee is, he works till night 10.00 since he doesn't have computer knowledge. He does every work manually till late hours. This is effected to other coworkers. Employer is thinking that he is very hard worker than others. I tried to discuss with employee on this, but he is not listening to me. I wanted to recruit one more person in that department, but it didn't work out. What I am saying is, while deciding increment/reward, all aspects to be considered i.e. performance, technical knowledge, attitude, work efficiency, speed, qualification etc. I am not against to employer, but as an HR, it is our responsibility to look after all these things. What is your opinion?

You are right. In such cases appraisal doesn't only mean raising the salary bar. It also works for identifying the training need which need to be implemented as an HR for the employee you have writeen in your example.
