I was working in a corporae company in a generalist role. Now i am in a consultancy doing recruitment; Is it ok and will it affect my career ?

If you are serious about making a career in HR, Iam of the view that the recruiter's job does not offer you any thing in terms of skills and knowledge required for core HR. If You want to continue and specialise in recruitment, then you can go ahead.it all depends as to hw you want to take your career ahead.

dear friend , i take it from generalist it is HR oriented . pl appreciate working in recruitment with a corporate HR is different from working with a placement consultancy agency.
your career will be affected if u change from placement consultancy to industry HR later on.
u are also limiting your exposure to only recruitment . HR is a ocean and u will miss bulk of it

Why did you switch to a consultancy?
Was it because you want to switch profile? Generalist to recruiter?
If so, you can continue in consultancy for few months, get a grip over recruitment and get all the do's and dont's of recruitment and then you can move further to corporate back as recruitment spl or core recruiter.
If however you wish to explore diff HR aspects (Which is not just recruitment/onboarding. There are things like policy making & implementing, maintaining attendance & leave, conducting performance management & appraisal, employee grievance handling, etc etc)
You need to switch back to corporate ASAP.
People usually start with consultancy when they fail to get a corporate job so that they atleast get experience letter for switch. You've actually done it other way round, the reson for which is not understood by me. Bt hv given you clarity on both things...

Recruitment job in a Consultancy firm does offer you experience to interact with HR departments of your clients, but is no substitute to a HR generalist role in corporate HR. For what reason you had quit from the corporate HR environment is best known to you, but I won't call it as a thoughtful gesture.
Never mind, now focus on your current job, learn all aspects of recruitment for a couple of years, establish contacts & plan switching back to the corporate sector.
Any job, in my opinion, can contribute to your profile for career growth in the HR domain provided you have taken it seriously. It may be wrong to say that experience in an HR Consultancy firm will not be useful in the long run. You must learn what 'Talent Search' means in totality & how a recruitment consultancy firm adds value to this process. If your clients are able to get through your consultancy the type of people they need, you would have acquired some competency in this area. Therefore, be focused on your job & avoid restlessness caused by this state of confusion.
Remember, Talent Search is the start point of Talent Management. And today you are a part of that Talent Search process , not for one but multiple organizations. Good luck & do well!

I agree with the last post. Anyhow, I think that an expert experience is always very important. So, I not have that experience for a while to kown deep how to recruit without focus the important that is to get experience in the other areas. Good luck and donīt forget that is very important to study and being up to date.
