Hi,
I presently work in a Nationalised Bank as Manager. Recently I have got selected for Cent Govt. job. I have not been asked for a NOC from my present employer at the time of interview. Now based on the selection, I want to resign from my present Bank giving three months' required notice period.Should I convey to them that I have been selected for Cent Govt or resign citing personal reasons. If I tell them the truth will they relieve me as our applications cannot be forwarded through proper channel while on probation as per Bank’s rules. If I inform them of the current Can they reject my resignation only because NOC/prior approval was not sought.
I need your guidelines

To the best of my knowledge, NOC is mandatory when changing jobs in the Government sector, be it banks or PSUs.

Dear Rajesh Basha,
I would endorse the view expressed by JayDG.
I agree with your view point, that you stand the risk, of your resignation getting rejected as it was not routed through proper channel. On the other hand, in my opinion, you will be at greater risk if you quit your present job citing personal reasons and need to produce an NOC from your current employer (Bank).
If you cite the real reason, the worst thing that can happen will be, your resignation getting rejected but you still have a decent job on hand.

Dear Rajesh,
Irrespective of whether your application routed thro' the proper channel or not it is prudent to obtain a properly worded relieving letter with NOC this will avert any complications in due course.

Generally NoC is a must to join any Govt job, if you work in a Bank or PSU. In this case, as they don't need NoC, there should not be any problem in that. Simply tell your employer that you are resigning for personal reasons and obtain relieving letter.
