Dear Seniors,
I am working in a Manufacturing firm based out of Noida. As you all know that on 28-Feb-2012, elections are happening in Noida.
So, I request you to provide me with your guidance on Holiday declaration for the day i.e. 28-Feb-2012.
Also, is any one have any kind of Gov. Circular which would validate if declaring 28-Feb-2012 as a Paid leave/Holiday, then kindly share...it's very Urgent...

Yes very much. Even for Contract labours, temporary workmen, casual labourers it is a paid holiday (even though they may be migrated workmen who would have voting rights where your Factory is situated),. Please find attached a Notification to this effect.

Dear Kaushambi,
I am also working with one of the KPOs in Noida and was looking for the same information whether to declare 28 Feb 2012 as an off day. The notice shared by Mr Sundarararaman is undoubtedly valuable information however it is dated 6 April 99. So we need to be sure if it still remains the same.
Kind Regards
Manu

Please note this is valid from this date. Please do not go with the date of the Circular. The content is valid from then on.
If we have to go with date of the Circular then we can as well violate all labour laws some of which are all formed as early as prior to our Independence. What we have to follow "IS THERE ANY FURTHER AMENDMENT ANY CLAUSE OF THE ACT OR RULES" and accordingly go with the amendments. But the basic Act & Rules remains same.
To the best of my knowledge, the Circular which I shared is valid and in continuation and there is no further amendments. YOu can obtain copy from your respective Zonal Labour Office - because (based on these) they issue circular for each & every election.

Dear Yogesh,
The best way to confirm this would be to call at Election Commission office in Noida and check with them. I am trying to locate their numbers and if I come across any info will let you know.

Hi,
The notices are clear on holidays and no compensation leaves for labor in factories. Can you please confirm, if the same applies to general offices as well?
Am finding this out for an IT firm based in Noida.
Would appreciate a quick response.
Thanks.
