Dear Respected HR's,
This is Abdul Irfan MBA (Finance),but my company placed me in B2B sales, now working as a sales coordinator in a chemical industry. It has been 3 months working here. But my manager did'nt train me anything and he does'nt give me any work. But daily i go to him and ask him for "any work",he replies "no work, just sit and check your personal mails".He did'nt take me to the market how to deal with the clients and whats the procedure to take forward sales, and he is expecting me to do sales without knowledge of chemicals.
Now i came to know the company GM is going to terminate few employees in which my name is also included. It is very shocking to me.
So, dear HR's i want to ask that how should i deal and take this issue to the GM that i am not trained and also how to convince him in a polite way.
Please help me HR's i will be very much gradeful to you.
Yours sincerely,
Abdul Irfan.

Hi Irfan,
Are you working on contract basis in SA? Please read the contracts/appointment letter and figure out if the role change is mentioned. Talk to HR if possible and find out a way. Since you are out of country we may not be able to guide much.
I may request some legal seniors to intervene.

Hi Abdul,
Inspite of having a finance background, u still chose to go ahead with a sales profile, was it your interest or because of no other option.
Secondly for 3 months you have been wasting time in the office...it is quite obvious that no company is going to employ any person to do timepass in the office, I think this is every employee knows.
When you asked your manager for work, did you ever document it, did you ever drop a mail requesting your manager to give you some work, did you take any initiative to understand what product or services you ought to sell, whats the potential market, maybe they would have wanted to test you.
Surprisingly you have wasted 3 months in your office, and realized now because your name is in the list of employees to be terminated, had they not taken this step now, would you still sit wasting your time.
This is just to have a reality check done for yourself, rather than thinking about where the company or management has gone wrong.
Now learn from this and think of what you have to do in the future, either you can still pull up your socks and start from the scratch, take the initiative and start researching and finding out what you can do as per your profile, or else resign from the job and search for another job where you can earn money for doing some good work.
Understand for yourself, that you are an MBA graduate, you should be able to gather information by yourself rather than depending on others, and kindly in future do not repeat the mistake of wasting so much of your time in any office.

Hello Shamin,
It was very nice to have your suggessions and facts, I really agree and appreciate for that. But i would like to bring to your notice few facts:
1. This was not my interest to join in Sales, but there was no choice at the same time so they have selected me for sales.
2. Now i am also well aware of the products which we are dealing with.
3. I had also mailed him for work and also everytime in any matter i will keep in CC(mail),
4. The important of all is here in saudi arabia, the problem is our sponsorship has to be transfered to the company, then only we can have license and we can move freely and i can go in the field without anyones help. so,they are also delaying my Iqama transfer
5. I dont know it is fair to tell or not, but i will share this *the company i am working is totally dominated by Jordanians and i am the alone Indian, so might be this is also a reason.
I hope ill get a good response and suggessions from respected HR's and my dear friends.
Thank You,
With Warm Regards,
Abdul Irfan.
