I have worked in 2 companies and have joined a new company. During the background check, will they just call the previous company for the verification or will they call all the companies for employment verification? Anyway, I have submitted both the companies' relieving letters.

Hi, It depends on the Employer. But mostly verification process will be carried out with the last employer through email.

It is based on the employer, they will verify previous employment companies as a background check.

Some Companies do background verification (BGV) themselves, while many employ BGV agencies to do the verification.
The verification is generally done with the immediate previous Company. But, if there is a break in service between 2 past employments and you do not have proper/ convincing justifications for the break in service, then the BGV can extend to previous employments as well.
