Hi Everyone,
Please tell me do Overtime Policy Really Exist in India.????
I work in software company as a HR Executive , it is a small company with 40-50 employees , but work pressure is more. hence all the developers they stay over night to complete their work.
and they ask for OT or comp-off often.
I am really confused whether they come under OT or it is just they are slagging their work.. hence they are staying over night.
please guide me.
thanks®ards

It is only that you need to find out whether the wok lad is such that it can be finished in an 8 hour work schedule in a day or is the work load so heavy as to stretch the working hours beyond the normal stipulated hours of work. The members cannot tell this. kindly do the basic ground work at your level before examining their entitlement to OT.

Overtime policy do exist in India, as rightly stated by Mr. Sai Kumar you/Line Manager has to assess/analyze whether the work allotted can be finished within 8 hours or not. I have seen developers are given time limit to finish the project/develop the software so at times the developer take their own convenience and finish sometime they have to stay overnight to complete the project. So it is advisable to sit with the line manager and give work load which can be completed stagewise/Phasewise within 8 hours.
