Dear Hardik
It is no where written that lunch and refreshment is a prerequisite for any training program. But yes just for the sake of change and active participation of the participants it can be provided.
My dear friends when organizations are hit by recession majority of organization prefer to squeeze training budget.

The objective behind providing lunch and refreshments during training is to keep the participants focussed on their training.Tarinings will have definite schedules. If the lunch and refreshmenst are provided at the premises of training,it will be easy for the participants to regroup after the break. If they are left to fend for themsleves for lunch and refreshmenst, they go out of the premises to have it. All of them may not regroup at the same time and this may make faculyty to wait for them unnecessarily.somtimes, it is difficult to find a decent hotel near the palce of training. If they go far and may get tired after lunch and that provides great opportunity to doze off during traiing. There may be many other benefits of making lunch and refreshments as part of training.

Gentleman, To have a new ambiance, some Corporates fix a Conference Hall in the Hotel of Mid/Big Size and have their Training Programs etc. for the following reasons :
1) New Ambiance.
2) Money saved in terms of 1 Spl. Central A/C. etc. even in Holiday Trng.
3) Money paid for Guaranteed XXXX pxs. food but Hall becomes free for the day or at small rent etc.
4) Employees of Different Branches / Business Units / Cost Centres assemble etc.
5) Time saving / Discipline.
6) Lower-down Conveyance cost etc.
Otherwise Lunch & Snacks are not must.
Pl. reconsider your thinking,

Hi Hardik!
To me it is yes and no depending on the training type, venue, duration, company policy, economic condition of your company, etc. On the overall, it will not necessarily follow that every time there is training meals and refreshments are a must.
