Hi there, I am an IIT graduate and first, let me tell about myself before coming to the question -

I have worked for almost a year in the corporate, first two months with Company A and the next 9 months with Company B. After that, my desire to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination intensified which made me resign from my job since I was not able to take time out from the unusually hectic work hours of my job.

Now the question is, whenever I shall apply for a job interview later, be it for the UPSC CSE, CAT, or any other private job, can I skip mentioning the Company A? If yes, should I omit it or mention about it? I doubt, it might not sound good that I left 2 jobs in quick succession, despite having all the necessary paperwork! (I have made a clean exit from both the firms with proper relieving letters.)

So far as I understand, no recruitment agency for Civil Services of the State like the UPSC, STATE PSCs are concerned with the past employment of prospective appointees in the Corporate Sector in their BGV process which is connected only with the criminal involvement, if any.
It seems that almost three years now since his graduation. Certainly, there may be question regarding what he did during the interregnum if he enters the phase of interview. Therefore, I don't know why the poster wants to skip mentioning his previous employment experience when his records are clean. Even it can help him have an edge in the vivo voce, if he is able to convincingly correlate such experience with the sphere of public administration he intends to enter into.
I think persons in the field of academics like Loginmiracles Kumar can give a better answer to this query.

Sir, actually I thought that mentioning about company A might portray me as a job hopper, who gets bored from things too soon, given that I left the job in company B also within the next 9 months. Also, it might open up a new pool of questions from a different sector, which I would then need to prepare for (since company A and company B were different sectors altogether). So, if hiding company A from the DAF does not accuse me for hiding relevant information, I would prefer not to reveal that!

Yes, in the selection process through UPSC etc., past employment history in the private sector is not at all relevant for character/background verification. And past experience, even for brief spell counts while facing the interviews.
