Dear Seniors, A new joiner has given a written complaint to HR about political environment in his working area. Also, he is being asked by his manager to write resignation on blank paper.
Shall we handle this case as per Internal Grievance policy? Also please share different view points on this?

Dear Meenu Sachdeva,

Just because someone has joined the company recently, does not reduce his/her stature. Conversely, just because someone has joined the company earlier, does not enhance his/her stature.

Please investigate the matter as per the "Policy on Employee Grievances". The investigator should focus on the incident rather than on the person(s) involved.

If the newcomer complained about the political environment in the department, then why did the company administration wait till a recently joined employee made a formal complaint? Why the undercurrents of the political environment were not detected earlier? Is a newly joined employee a victim of groupism? Why the manager has asked to submit a letter of resignation on the blank paper? Who has authorised him/her to do this?

There are three types of conflicts viz., process conflict, task conflict and relationship conflict. If the former two continue for a long time, these escalate to a relationship conflict. The investigator needs to identify the root cause of the conflict.

Thanks,

Irrespective of an employee being new or old needs to be heard. The matter needs to be investigated with an intent to find the root cause of such occurrences. Manager should definitely not ask to resign on the paper unless that is the system which is followed in the organization.
