There's a wonderful quote from Zig Ziglar that says, "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily."
I am frequently amazed at the number of business people I meet who will not listen to tapes, read books, or attend seminars. They don't have time to read, and the tapes "don't work." They "can't afford" the seminars, and they "don't need" the education. And then they wonder why their careers seem to reach a plateau!
Even a badly done tape may contain a kernel of truth, a bit of wisdom, or it may motivate you to do your work better or differently or with more integrity than "that other guy." Motivation comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes we are motivated by needing to pay the bills, at other times we are motivated by an inspirational seminar or the enthusiasm of a speaker.
Sometimes we are motivated by a desire to do better for our families. Sometimes we are motivated by fear, but we are almost always motivated when we are around exciting people with great ideas, lots of energy, and a clear vision of where they are going. Motivation works!
As a business leader, there are important reasons to keep yourself focused, enthused, energized, and eager, and you owe it to the people who look to you for leadership. Whether you stay motivated by rewriting your goals every day, listening to tapes, learning new skills, or attending rallies, do whatever it takes. Your success tomorrow depends on your level of motivation, commitment, and determination today.

Hello Sardhar,
It is really true that every day, or I would like to say every second, one needs to be motivated. Why? To reach the defined goal. One has to have a predefined goal in life; that is what makes a person motivated all the while, keeping his/her spirit levels high in doing a specific activity.
Always cheer :)

If a candle has no wick, you cannot bring it to flame no matter how hard you try. If a person does not have a goal, they cannot be motivated no matter what you try. Just as the candle needs a wick first, very often the person needs to be given knowledge of what they can achieve initially.
In our function, we often try to light candles that have no wick, only to fail and wonder why people lack motivation or why our skills are poor.

Peer Mohamed has touched upon an interesting aspect of employee motivation. While, on the one hand, every individual has a responsibility to be self-motivated and add value to society, when it comes to work, the opinions vary. Every individual is unique and an asset to the organization. The organization has an equal responsibility to provide adequate opportunities for growth and learning. Every team lead/manager has the responsibility of grooming employees working in their team and keeping them motivated.
Corporate rewards, annual appraisals, and career enhancements go hand in hand. Festive seasons like Diwali can be occasions to reward performing employees and appreciate their contribution.

I absolutely loved this quote – it says it all. Motivation can come in all shapes and sizes, from the little street urchins to the corporate bigwigs; there is a story of life, courage, and grit. My source of inspiration lately has been a product as unlikely as an iPod. Well, I've been loading it with my favorite video training materials and viewing them whenever I am waiting for my client in their office lobby. The fun is in never having a moment of self-pity and doubt.

Also, I love to read the walls of my clients office...that tells me a lot about what drives them.

There are so many times that we get bored or frustrated with our jobs, and I guess the article above is right because we can really motivate ourselves if we truly want to. Great one for this. Please always post inspiring and more motivating articles. Cheers! :-D
Yes the article is very true in the real life….Everyday, motivation is akey ingredientin helping us succeed with our everyday lives. Whether we are trying to succeed in business, <link outdated-removed> build relationships, losing weight, going to school or just trying to get out of bed you will find reading Your Daily Motivation an inspiration.
Sometimes it can be hard to stay focused on the important things in our lives. Whether you are a parent or grandparent, an assistant or an executive, a student or a professional, life can feel overwhelming at times. There are days when you would rather hide under the covers than take that first step out of the bed and into your daily routines. There are times when you may look at the clock and it seems to be advancing in slow motion, but you know your own two feet could run out that door and far away from everything.
Occasionally everybody needs words of encouragement to help get their vision in focus for a better day, a better life. The "Daily Motivational Message" is here for that extra boost first thing in the morning, fight or flight time in the afternoon, or after a long day in the evening.

It should also be remembered that gifting an employee does not mean his workload gets doubled. Appreciation and motivation should be without any strings attached. If it is sent across in this spirit, you will, by default, get a higher response from your employees.

I think motivation could be brought from a good bonding of people in an organization, which needs to be motivated by a goal in front of them. As some people mentioned, something like an iPod would be a great gadget to which they can look forward to get motivated.

Hi,
That is a nice quote. However, the reality factor is that motivation in modern business to bring up is really worth it. It can be done in various ways. Gifting them on the festive season is also part of it, which is like a reward to them for the hardworking year that just passed.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah, a cool electronic gadget like an iPod would definitely add to the motivational factor of employees. We can add a personalized touch by embossing the company logo behind each piece. This way, we can add some uniqueness to this gift, and it would also help us in maintaining transparency among employees. It stands out as a gift that can be given across employees of different hierarchies.
Moreover, it is affordable too. The least expensive model of the 1GB iPod shuffle comes for only Rs. 2,300. It would fit into the budget even during this hard time of penny-pinching.
