Hi,

Can anybody tell me if an employee joins a new organization and wants to transfer his PF account? In this regard, he has submitted Form No. 13 to the present employer.

So, my question is: what is the next step? Should the present employer submit the said form to the RPF jurisdiction of the present employer or send it to the RPF jurisdiction of the past employer?

Kindly advise.

Dear Mantu,

The current employer is supposed to submit the duly filled Form 13 for the transfer of PF funds from the previous account to the current one at its regional EPFO office where its returns are being submitted. The application, after verification, will be sent to the RPF where the previous account was held, and the transfer will then be effected after verification of the subscriber's records. It may take some time for the funds to be transferred to the current account.

Take three copies of Form 13, certify it at your end, and send two copies to the previous employer with a request for onward submission to the concerned RPFC. Send one copy to the RPFC where your establishment is registered. This will expedite the process.

I would suggest you take three copies: send one to the previous employer, one to the RPF Commissioner of the previous state, and one to the RPF Commissioner where your company has an account. Try this method; it will be faster, but you have to follow up with them because these people are really slow. I tried it for my employees, and it has helped me.

Dear Mantu,

Form No. 13 for the Transfer of EPF from the previous account to the present account requires the following documents to be attached with the form:

Documents Required along with Form-13:

1. Particulars of Non-Contributory Service in the previous Employment
2. Form 3A(R) for the last spell of the financial Year in the previous employment
3. Form No. 5 of the Previous employer as evidence for Joining the EPF account
4. Form No. 10 of the previous employer as evidence for leaving the service
5. Copy of NSSN form of the previous employer
6. Declaration form of the Present employer
7. Copy of NSSN form of the present employer.

There is no need to submit in duplicate. Just one set should be submitted to the Commissioner EPF, and an acknowledgment should be obtained. Within 30 days, they will send a "Transfer Certificate" to the employee and employer.

Dear Mantu,

Form 13 is used for transferring an employee's PF account from one company to another. Both the employer and employee have to specify their names, PF account numbers, positions, etc., and submit it with a covering letter (consolidated list of employees). A photocopy of the above is kept in the PF file for transfer.

Hi, I am working in an NBFC. What we normally do here is when an employee asks for transferring their PF amount from the previous employer, we will fill up the necessary sections and send it to the previous employer with a copy to the PF Commissioner of the previous employer.

Dear friend,

Please submit Form 13 with the details of your previous employment, such as the name and address of the previous employer, your account number, and the previous employer's code number. Hand over three copies of Form 13 to the HR department of your present employer.

If your previous employer's PF is exempted, they will send one copy of Form 13 to them, the second copy to your PF office where the present employer holds accounts, and the third copy is for filing with the present employer.

Form 13 is attached herewith for your use. It is advisable to make frequent inquiries in the PF office by your present employer's HR department for an early transfer.
