Hi all,

I am an MBA with a specialization in HR and currently working in a BPO for almost 3 years. Due to financial burden and family responsibilities, I always wanted to earn more money to support my family, which is why I have neglected my career and joined a call center. I want to grow and also want to earn more money, but not in a call center. However, the problem is that I have overall experience in a call center. If I look for a job in a bank or somewhere else at this point in time, I may not get good money.

Please suggest what I can do as I am very confused. I cannot continue working in a call center after my marriage.

Dear Sender,

You are aware that getting any jobs in a bank (nationalized) is not very easy, for which you have to write exams conducted by BRB. Indeed, experience in call centers and BPO is not considered as experience when you apply for new jobs.

You can keep trying for outside jobs, and sooner you will get a suitable job for you.

All the best.

Dear,

If you are looking for a new job and you have an MBA in HR, you can apply for HR positions. In this field, you have a lot of opportunities. Within 2 to 3 years, you will receive a handsome salary and have a great career.

So, all the best... And remember:
"I will not say I failed 1000 times,
I will say that I discovered 1000 ways that can cause failure."

All the best. If you have any queries, please let me know at jatin_joshi50@yahoo.co.in.

Dear Ruchi,

Hi, I am a Clinical Psychologist. Besides training and counseling, I provide career guidance to students and corporate professionals.

Today, I met with a woman in her mid-thirties who has an impressive portfolio and has worked with top names in the industry. She is currently a manager but shifted from her original specialization to the BPO industry eight years ago. Despite her success, she is not satisfied and is looking for a change.

I would suggest that even though starting salaries may not be high in the banking sector, you can quickly prove your worth and progress. On the other hand, if you continue in the call center industry, the growth opportunities are limited, and sometimes it may be too late to make a change.

It's time for you to make a decision.

Hi Ruchi,

As Salma mentioned, it's advisable to take a plunge rather than prolonging the decision. You can try reaching out to recruitment firms that often hire candidates with no experience and gradually transition them to roles requiring a certain level of experience. With an MBA, finding a better job opportunity should not be too challenging for you. Keep an eye on the newspaper ads for HR positions, but remember not to delay. Wishing you all the best!

Hi all,

I got a job in a BPO. I'm a fresher, and I'm a little bit confused about whether to join or not. Most of my friends have said that as a graduate (B.Tech), if I work in a BPO, there won't be any growth, and no experience will be counted. So, please suggest whether I should join or not.

Thank you.
