Dear Employee,
An employee who has worked only 2 days in a week is not entitled to a weekly off. The provision of a weekly off is for those employees who have worked 5-6 days in a week (depending on company policy).

The responsibility of the HR man is twofold towards the employee as well as the employer, and he has to strike a balance between the two, taking into consideration the production, productivity, and the morale of the workforce.
Granting a largesse by providing a weekly day off to a worker who has worked only 2-3 days in the week may motivate many more workers to make the same request, potentially leaving the management struggling in terms of productivity. The decision, if made as suggested above, could create more problems than it solves. I agree with the views expressed. Please attempt to take a balanced approach to this and other similar issues that may arise in the future.

Would appreciate if you could elaborate on your query in detail to provide an appropriate view from forum members. Additionally, if an employee has recently joined your company, for example, on Friday and Sunday being the weekly off days, you cannot ask the employee to report to duty since he has only worked for 2 days.

The law states that an employee who works more than 48 hours should be given a weekly day of rest. You now have the opportunity to design the weekly rest schedule for your employees.
