EDLI claim is dependent on the last EPS salary and total working period, age of the employee, and multiple factors are considered in settlement. If the death is displayed in the contribution period and is recorded properly in Form 9 of EPFO, then the minimum payout is 1.5 lakhs, and the maximum is 6 lakhs subject to EDLI paid (salary structure) and the period of contribution. The actual calculation is complex, and the department has its own formula to calculate as there are Non-Contributory Pay (NCP) days also present in the annual calculation. However, the minimum and maximum parameters are as cited above.
