Please visit 5S - Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke where all the five elements are explained. If you are really keen on implementing, I suggest that you buy the book recommended there. It is excellent.

5 'S' is a very beautiful concept, and this can help you a lot irrespective of the organization you are working in. It also helps you at home. But it needs patience; you have to go step by step. So, first, implement the first 'S' - seiri, i.e., sorting out. This itself will take 2-3 months. When you are sure that it is fully implemented, then move to 2nd 'S'. As all the 'S' are related to each other, and you can achieve the best results if you are fully satisfied with Seiri and then move to seiton and so on.
