Hi !!
SAP is the name of a company based in Germany which produces a business software application called SAP R/3. This application integrates a company’s core business functions - Production Planning, Plant Maintenance, Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, Finance, Fixed Asset Management, Quality Management and Human Resources etc in a seamless and efficient manner. SAP R/3 is an acronym for Systems, Applications and Products in data processing Realtime 3. SAP R/3 uses a single comprehensive company-wide shared database. Because SAP R/3 updates the database in real-time, you see the results of your work and the work of other colleagues immediately. Employee information is kept accurate and changes are processed immediately.
Benefits of having SAP-HR
1. Single secure source of data.
2. Enables HR to become more consultative and strategic with the Organization's business partners.
3. Integrates HR and Non HR systems to drive data management and process efficiencies.
4. Real-time processing.. take seconds to process data
SAP HR uses following Modules which can be customized as per organization needs:
1. New Hiring
2. Employee Data Administration
3. Employee Separation
4. Organization and Position Management
5. Performance Management
6. Skills and Competency Management
7. Compensation and Rewards Management
8. Career and Succession Planning
9. Training Administration
10. Employee & Manager's Self Service
I have been trained on SAP in USA and I have been successfully using SAP HR system in my current organization. We have all our employee records in SAP System, HRMIS is generated through SAP and salary is processed through SAP. SAP offers you flexibility of sending work flow notification, and you can even integrate/have an interphase between your attendance punching system and canteen punching system and get rid of manual data feeding for salary processing.
I am sure this would have given you an insight about SAP HR.
Thanks,
Shekhar

Very informative reply. Though all of us have heard about SAP and know about it in a broad sense, only a few of those who are in the SAP working environment know fully or at least a little about this concept. For me, it is an advantageous post. Thanks, Mr. Shekhar. - YR Rao, Hyd.
