Dear Respectees,

You are all aware that the Payment of Bonus Amendment Bill was introduced via bill no. 15 of 2010 (Ref: Gazette of India; 5-3-2010, Pt.II-S.II Ext.P.59(No.3)). This amendment has not yet been notified by the government. The bill aims to increase the ceiling amount of bonus and the minimum percentage of bonus.

My question is whether the bill is still active or if it has lapsed in the House of Parliament. This is an important bill that would have an impact from the accounting year 2009. Does anyone know the current status of the bill and its legal validity? Please reply with any necessary enclosures.

Thank you.

Dear,

Certain bills introduced in parliament never become law. The definition of the industry bill was produced in 1989 in parliament, and no amendments have been made to the Industrial Dispute Act to this day. Another bill was also introduced but has not been notified.

Dear Member,

Any employee who has worked for more than 30 days in an accounting year is eligible for a bonus. The terms and conditions of the contract determine the liability for payment of the bonus to the contract employee.
