Hi,

Assuming that your language skills are very good and that you have a good vocabulary too, the primary requirement to write content is being clear about the subject line. This can also be the topic title. The more general the title or subject line, the more vague your content generation becomes. So your primary focus must be on getting the gist of the matter to be generated succinctly compressed into one or two lines.

Thereafter the following steps would help:

- Study up on the topic but don't make the mistake of cutting and pasting content for you risk the charge of being accused of plagiarism.
- If the content is very large, then you would have to break it up into meaningful topics that smoothly transition from one chapter/idea to the next.
- When writing, always keep the audience who will be reading your matter in mind. The same topic when written for children, teens, women, men, scholars, critics, etc., would be differently written/structured for each such audience.
- If the topic gives latitude, be creative and expressive; else, focus on the key matter.
- If writing for websites, then things like keywords, SEO, etc., are very important.

Hope the above suggestions help you develop into a successful writer.

Hi Sandhya,

I am currently residing in Cochin, the business capital of Kerala. I am a recruiter with 4.5 years of experience. I have recently completed my post-graduation in business management after obtaining a degree in English literature. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential to expand my business. I have a keen interest in writing and reading, with considerable experience in these areas. However, due to a significant gap, I require comprehensive training to enhance my language proficiency and skills. I would greatly appreciate any valuable suggestions you could provide.

Thank you,
Sandhya K. Basu

Dear Sundar,

I hope you are doing great. I am a trainer in Bangalore, and I am looking to transition into content development. I have experience in developing training modules but I am eager to learn the specific methods used in content development, including any tools or software applications that are commonly utilized.

I have also come across the term "instructional design"; could you please explain what it entails?

If possible, could you please send me the PowerPoint presentation? It would be greatly appreciated.

Warm regards,
Cindru

Hi Cindru,

Good to note that you are a trainer in Bangalore. I have heard the term instructional design, but I don't know what it is. Request other members following this thread to help on understanding this term. I am attaching one more doc on tech-based learning for your reading pleasure. Hope you like this. I will send my ppt over the weekend as I am currently out of town. That ppt is lying on my desktop.

Best Regards,
Sundar
