Let me explain the cost of recruitment. The costs involved in the recruitment activities are as follows:

- Telephone charges for contacting the candidates
- Conversion of recruitment coordinators' man-hours into costs
- Panel members' costs (i.e., If there are 3 members on the panel, you need to calculate 3 hours' salary for each staff member)
- Conveyance reimbursement for the candidates (Even if only one person is selected, expenses reimbursed for all candidates who attended the interview must be considered)
- If you are sourcing through a placement consultant, you need to include the professional charges of the agency in the recruitment cost.

You can consider various aspects to calculate recruitment costs, as rightly mentioned earlier in the post:

1. Hourly salaries of interviewers (HRs and technical interviewers).
2. Transport and other facility costs of candidates.
3. Other charges (phone bills, electricity, rent, stationery, printing, advertising, medical check-ups, etc).
4. Vendors costs (consultancy firm, subscription costs, headhunters' commission, etc).

*Other charges can be apportioned according to the extent of use by respective departments/divisions.

(1+2+3+4) = Hiring Cost

Average cost of recruitment = Hiring Cost / Number of candidates interviewed.

You may calculate the cost on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis and obtain the result for the cost of recruitments. However, please ensure to bring all costs to an equal platform such as an hourly, daily, or monthly basis.
