This is really a sad affair on the part of the Head Office of the EPFO. All the proposals coming to the Head Office from the Regional offices are duly checked and certified by the concerned RPFC. This certification confirms that the cases sent for approval/notification by the respective Govt. are in accordance with the terms and conditions set by the EPFO and comply with the Model Byelaws of EPFO. This process leaves fewer chances of any shortcomings to be overlooked by the Head Office. The delay seems to be nothing but an unwillingness to clear the backlog.

Considering the significant backlog of claims in the field, EPFO should encourage employers to seek exemptions to establish and manage their own Trusts. This approach would enable the settlement of claims for their ex-employees promptly within the establishment itself, rather than sending them to the P.F. Office where delays in settlement are common. The EPFO should actively promote and support employers in this endeavor, extending guidance to secure the necessary securities/bonds as required by law, even for smaller establishments.

Thank you.
