Hi,

I have two questions for everyone regarding PF.

1) Is the claim status on EPF websites updated as it is claimed to be?

2) How many days does it take for the PF to be credited to your account?

Please provide me with this information.

Thanks,
Shivani Kaul

Hi Shivani,

Regarding your queries:

1) No, PF claim amounts are not updated regularly on the PF website.

2) The question is not very clear. If you are looking for information on claims after submitting the forms, it usually takes a minimum of 30 days for the amount to be credited to your account. Sometimes, it may even take months.

Hi Shivani,

I hope you have your PF account number right. Certainly, it will get credited to your account. Sometimes, due to delays in the process, it may take 2 to 3 months as well. In my case, it took more than a year to get credited to my account.

Nevertheless, you should visit the PF office and inquire about the status of your PF claims. If visiting is not feasible, try calling them to check the status. While it's possible that nobody may respond to your phone call, it's still worth a try.

Hi Shivani,

This is to inform you that:

1. Normally, PF Claims are updated on the EPF website. Please be specific when choosing the location to check the PF status.

2. Earlier, till December 2009, PF status claims were updated within 25 to 30 days, and full settlement was made within a maximum of 45 working days. However, nowadays, it takes 30 to 45 days to update the claim status on the website, and it takes a minimum of 60 to 75 working days to credit into your account.

3. The update on the website indicates that they have acknowledged your file.

So, hope for the best.

Dear All,

I have one question about PF account slips, i.e. We already sent the PF records from March to February, but the account slips have not arrived from the PF office. Will they send them, or do we need to go to the PF office to collect the slips? What is the solution, please tell me.

Thanks
With warm regards,
Anantha

Hi Shivani,

Not to worry, your money will be safe. The only thing is it will be delayed. If you find any discrepancies in the amount you received, you can dispute it and claim your money.

Try to obtain the Form 3a "Annual Returns" from your employer. This form will be helpful for your claims.

Dear friend,

Your questions are as follows:

1) Is the claim status on EPF websites updated as it is claimed to be? It will update automatically.

2) How many days does it take for the PF to be credited to your account? It will take more than one month.

Whatever is warm and inspiring, whatever means most to you, whatever makes you smile and brings you joy... that's what I wish for you. All the best.

Dear Shivani,

I have serious doubts about whether the PF claims are updated regularly like other government websites.

To answer your question:

In my opinion, the PF authorities generally wait for a period of 60 days after you submit the claim and then commence the processing (in the event you are switching from one employment to another). This waiting period is to give time to assess whether the employee is likely to join yet another industry covered under the EPF act. Another factor is that you can still transfer your EPF account from one employer to another.

After the expiry of the 60-day period, the claims are processed.

However, if you are about to attain the age of superannuation, the claims can be submitted. If my memory serves me right, it is 90 days (not sure of the exact number of days) prior to the date of superannuation. You can rest assured that you will receive the claim amount on the date of your superannuation, if not earlier. For this to happen, the employer needs to submit a declaration that they will contribute the PF amount for the period ending at superannuation since the claim is being submitted in advance.

Trust this clarifies the matter.

Dear Anantha,

PF slips are automatically sent by the PF office upon finalization after the company sends the returns in Form 6A to the PF office every year by April 30th. However, in the interest of the organization and its employees, it is better to follow up with the PF office. If the slips are ready, the PF office will send them by post. They will not hand them over personally.

Dear Friend,

In Hyderabad, we have fast and furious service. If you submitted the application with all the required documents and along with the bank account proof like a cancelled check leaf, you can expect your PF amount within 15 working days in your bank account.

I agree that the PF office is a government entity and usually they do not tend to work efficiently. Instead of waiting for them, if you submit the Form 5, Form 10, 3A, and bank account details along with the application, their work will be easier, and the processing can be done at the earliest.

I have found a way to expedite the process and have proven it. Let's try the same approach and expect results rather than blaming the government.

Hi,

My PF number is MH43928 7870. I was employed in AMBFS PVT LTD. I resigned from this company in October 2008 and submitted my PF form in January 2009. However, I have not yet received my PF money. I have already sent my bank statement to the Mumbai office. Could you please advise me on how to receive my PF money? I would appreciate a prompt response.

Thank you,
Sakshi

Hi Shivani,

The EPF website is not regularly updated. The time it takes to credit your PF into your bank account completely depends on how advanced the PF office is (i.e., computerization or still maintaining registers). The method of posting a cheque to your bank or directly crediting it to your account through electronic fund transfer also matters the most in terms of their turnaround time. I would suggest you acquire the form submission acknowledgment slip from your ex-employer and visit the PF office for a follow-up.

All the claims are not updated on the website as EPFO is likely to complete its computerization programme by 31/03/2011. However, a few offices are prompt enough to respond immediately on a call to PRO ETC. Till then, the status of the claim can be watched on the website of EPFO.

Legally, the time limit is 30 days for the settlement of claims; otherwise, one can go to the consumer court for deficiency in services. But one must be sure that he/she has a proper receipt of filing the claim and also ensure that the claim has not been received back from the PF office or from the employer.

Dear Anantha,

The PF office now insists that the PF returns Form 3A and 6A are submitted in the E format, in addition to hard copies if you have already submitted them. Kindly check with the PRO of the concerned PF office.

Dear Shakshi,

You mentioned that you have submitted your PF claim but did not specify to whom you submitted it. If you have submitted the claim to the PF office after obtaining the employer's endorsement, then you need to follow up with them. However, if you have submitted your claim to your employer, then you need to follow up with him.

Trust the matter is clarified.

Hi Guys,

I started this thread with a query, and now my query is resolved as I have received the PF amount recently. What I have learned is not to trust the EPF websites as they don't update at all. Most of all, it took me about 80 days to get the money. The irony is that the website still shows that they haven't received my claim documents.

All the best for the rest who are still trying to get their PF.

Dear Shivani,

The claim status is updated immediately when you receive the amount in your account. It takes 30 days to get your amount credited if your matter is still not settled.

Write a letter/email to the PF Commissioner of the regional office attaching all the photostat documents related to the issue. Include the date of the courier when you dispatched the Form 19 and 10C. CC the same to the Public Relations Officer of that region.

Madam,

PF Slip in form No. 23 is available in the PF Office, and we have to collect it in form No. 23 to distribute it to our staff members. The slips are ready for collection for the month of September '12, covering the period from April 1, 2011, to March 31, 2012 (March 2011 to February 2012).

Our company provided security services to various companies. I want to ask you, while preparing the bill for that particular company, how much service tax will be charged as per the current rate.

Dear Shivani,

Is the claim status on EPF websites updated as it is claimed to be? Yes, it is updated regularly on a basis of 10-15 days. There are instances where the amount would have been credited to the employee's bank account but it may not be reflected on the site. The EPFO is in the process of streamlining many issues. Today, as soon as the PF claim is approved or rejected, it is intimated to the mobile number.

How many days does it take for the PF to be credited to your account? Normally, it takes 30-45 days for the PF amount to be credited to the account. There are states like Maharashtra which take more than 3 to 4 months to settle the claim. It doesn't mean they are slow; it is due to the higher number of claims received by them because most of the companies have their headquarters and EPF accounts based in Mumbai.
