If the claim is for the final settlement of accumulation in the EPF account of the deceased, there is no need to submit a 'non-employment certificate'. What is crucial here are:

1) Nomination in favor of the claimant, if any, from the records of the employer. Sometimes the employer may not have collected this from the deceased when he/she was alive and registered/renewed. This would necessitate a 'succession certificate' and NOCs from his family members duly notarized. This is required to avoid litigations from potential stakeholders.

2) Death Certificate

3) Bank details of the recipients

4) PAN card, address proof, and ID proof

5) Aadhaar card.

You can also submit the attached form with all relevant information filled in along with the required documents.

If the claim is for "Family Pension" under EPS or any other scheme, the widow of the deceased may be required to submit a 'non-employment certificate', which is NOT mandatory. However, a 'non-remarriage certificate' may be requested along with a 'Life certificate'.
