As per the Tamil Nadu Gazette dated 7th August 2017, the Government of Tamil Nadu has amended the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act, 1958. With this amendment, the Government is now empowered to declare any day, other than holidays mentioned in the Act, as a special holiday in cases of emergencies or special circumstances prevailing in the State or any part thereof. The State Government will release the effective dates for this Act through a separate notification.
