In case if your company does not want the employees/visitors to use mobile phone in office premises you can have locker system. Most of the IT/Automobile/Software companies do it.

Dear member,
If you are bothered only about the waste of time, it is not worthwhile to install jammers in the office as it will not only cause inconvenience to you but may also hamper the functioning of mobiles of other establishments/offices in the vicinity, and you may land up in trouble. Also, if a person is addicted to mobiles, he/she can still use the landlines available in the office and do the same. Then you may have to install software to check the usage of the landline and increase the administrative cost.
Furthermore, as suggested by one of the members, it is best to provide lockers to the employees where they can keep their mobiles and collect them during breaks or while going home.
It is most important that before you take any such decision, communicate formally and in advance to all the employees. Weigh all the pros and cons and arrive at a decision.

Dear Mr. Verma,
By implementing a policy requiring employees to switch off their mobile phones while in the office premises, you can ensure better adherence to company rules. Employees can be allowed to use their mobile phones during lunchtime or before leaving for home. Providing designated boxes where employees can safely store their mobile phones during working hours can help maintain a distraction-free work environment.
Thank you.

In this information age, where tabs and smartphones are said to increase the efficiency of employees, why do we need to consider installing jammers in workplaces? I understand that in high-security workplaces like defense establishments, ISRO, R&D labs, etc., jammers are used. However, what about a factory that manufactures cars? What kind of confidential information can possibly be leaked through the use of mobile phones that cannot be leaked through email? Also, what happens in the case of emergencies at home or work? How do outside agencies, vendors, or even our own family members connect with us if not through mobile phones?
In factories such as shop floors where the workmen are involved in production, cell phones are typically prohibited in most companies due to safety requirements. However, in offices, I don't think it is a feasible idea to restrict mobile usage using jammers and isolate people from the outside world under the guise of productivity or security. I have not come across any empirical evidence against the use of mobile phones in office spaces.

Hi,
As Mr. Narayanan suggested, you could install a cupboard in the reception with a token system to collect/return the mobile phones of both employees and visitors (if necessary). That will be the least expensive and simple solution. Also, are jammers available off the shelf, say in an electronic store/online?

Dear,
Apart from telecommunication laws and other related acts, installing jammers in company premises will affect all mobile phones for a certain period. It is all about top management decision why they opted for such action. As the company has its sole rights reserved with directors for most of the business aspects and activities.
If the company has implemented such a system, then as an employee, no one can oppose such action. However, for emergency conditions or situations, there must be a fixed number where family and relatives can easily connect via extensions to the desired person or employee. After installing jammers, no communications can be made via voice or text. Management will definitely consider this point.
Thank you.

Jammers are illegal to market, sell, or use in the United States although they can be really beneficial if used properly. Includes GPS jammer, phone jammer, and so on.
A single violation of the jamming prohibition can result in tens of thousands of dollars in monetary penalties, seizure of the illegal device, and imprisonment.
