Dear Members,
I need help with a worksheet. I have spent half a day but haven't found any solution. Attached is a motor vehicle worksheet with two tabs: 1) Result and 2) Data. The Data tab is where we download information from our accounting system, and the Result tab is where I need to extract data from the Data tab. Let me try to explain what I need. For example, in cell Z9 of the Results tab, I want the result to be 300, and in cell AD9, I want the result to be 658. This data will be extracted from the Data sheet by looking at Z5 (Account code) and G9 (Registration No).
I am aware that a simple lookup function may not work in this situation. What could work is a combination of the index and match functions. The challenge I am facing is that the index formula typically applies to rows and columns, but in my case, both the Account Code and Registration No are in rows. Another complication is that in the Data sheet, the Account Code is the full account number, but I only want to consider the last five digits without adding an additional column to the Data sheet.
I hope I have explained this clearly. I am looking forward to a solution. Thank you in advance.
