Dear Sir,

Recently, I have joined a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra. There has been an observation by Factory Inspectors regarding the Display Notice Board at the Factory Gate, indicating the Abstract of the Factory Act -1948 and Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963 in Form 26 should be displayed.

I have a copy of the Abstract of the Factory Act, which is too lengthy to display on the board at the Factory gate. I seek your sincere help in understanding the contents required on the Display board that must be displayed at the Factory Gate.

Additionally, kindly provide me with information on other display boards that need to be displayed at the Factory Gate, apart from the Abstract of the Factory Act.

You can tag the abstract together and hang it near the gate. There is no need to display each page separately. Similarly, the Standing Orders and Contract Labour Act abstracts have to be displayed. The wage payment dates have to be displayed under the Payment of Wages Act. The names of the Factories Inspector, Contract Labour Inspector, etc., also have to be displayed.

Under the Factories Act, it is mandatory to display the name of the Inspector of Factories and also the name of the Labour Commissioner under whose jurisdiction your factory is covered. In regard to the display of the Abstract, a separate notice board should be placed at the main entrance of the factory. This should be displayed at the gate at all times. Additionally, you need to display the list of holidays, and ensure that first aid is available with security.

Dear Member,

It is suggested to have a dedicated notice board for the display of abstracts and notices, as there are many articles that need to be displayed. As suggested by one of the members, you can take a photocopy of the abstract from the book and display it in a tagged form. Additionally, you need to display abstracts of the Payment of Gratuity Act, Maternity Benefit Act, Contract Labour Act, Payment of Wages Act, and Workmen's Compensation Act.

You can use this board to display other notices under the Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, etc., as well as general information of interest to the employees.

Dear All,

Apart from the abstract of FA and other applicable enactments, under Section 61 and Rule 98 of FA, a notice of periods of work in Form 16 is to be displayed. This notice is very important.
