We are thinking about developing an offline meetup feature which will allow users to schedule casual local meets. The users will specify the location, date, time, and their interests, and these meets will be featured on the home page as per location. So if you are in London, you will see meets which are happening in London (or will be invited to initiate one).
I wanted the opinion of the members about whether they feel this would help or if they prefer the more serious seminars where there is a clear agenda and take away. I have personally found this to be a pain point - as I find it difficult to connect with other techies - somehow even when I meet the existence of agendas make the meets mostly useless. I want to encourage more of the kind of meets where there is less of an agenda and more of sharing and fun among members.
Is this merely a task of wording the feature correctly or do you think this requires some sort of rituals which must be carried out to set the mood of the meet? Would love to hear from our members regarding this.
