Dear Friends,

We have some female employees who have regular outstation tours in a month. Please advise me on what the outstation allowances should be for them. The employees are at the Trainee/Executive level.

Kindly advise.

There won't be any outstation allowance. If an employee is relocated, organizations will typically provide a relocation allowance to cover the additional expenditure. However, if some employees are going on duty to outstations, the traveling and other expenditures are borne by the employer, hence no outstation allowance is required. If you pay in this manner, most of your employees will likely seek outstation jobs.

If you wish to reward them for their excellent work at outstations, evaluate their performance and provide a performance bonus linked to individual performance. This approach can enhance competitiveness, increase productivity among employees, and contribute to the organization's profitability.

If they are going to A-class cities, they should be eligible for at least Rs. 2000/- per day. For B-class cities, Rs. 1500/- per day, including boarding and lodging, Rs. 500 for local conveyance, and III A/C fare for up and down travel. Ask them to submit actual bills for hotel boarding and train tickets or bus tickets.

A-class cities are Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and other metros. B-class cities are other cities.
