Subject: Ethics

Dear all,

I conduct soft skills training. This time I have a topic on ethics. Can anyone help me to include exercises or games based on this topic apart from my presentation work? Please help.

Hi Zeeshan,

Games and activities related to time management are relatively easier to find on this site if you do a search or click on the links to the right side of this post. However, to get you started, let me share with you two activities/games that can be used in your time management program:

1. Make a list of 12-15 tasks (in random order) that a person has to do in a day. Some of these tasks can be personal tasks too. Circulate this list and ask participants to prioritize the order in which they will execute the tasks. Have a sharing on why most people had different priorities. This can be further explored to include them identifying tasks that are Important/Urgent, etc.

2. You can (preferably post-lunch) play any game with a time limit, be it dumb charades or a one-minute game, etc. Draw attention to the pressure that builds up when the time limit is nearing. Also, draw attention to the importance of taking a little time to plan before executing.

Your second request for some exercise for training on ethics is more challenging.

If you take a little effort and do a Google search, you will be able to come up with case studies on ethics. Alternatively, you can create your case study, e.g., you have been sacked from your job as part of a downsizing. You do not want to reveal this fact in any prospective job interviews for fear of being rejected. At the same time, you are well aware that your job role demands a high level of integrity, and you are uncomfortable with holding back the truth. How will you tackle this dilemma?

I would also suggest you share the video link to some select lectures by Sandel on the website www.justiceharvard.org. If you listen to some of his lectures, particularly the first one on "The Moral Side of Murder" and the second one on "Putting Price Tag on Life," you would be delighted to get some fantastic inputs. With a little imagination and a lot of spunk, I am sure you will be able to come up with some wonderful and interesting material for your audience.

Dear B. Jacob,

Thank you very much for helping me. As you mentioned about the case study on the topic of ETHICS, it is definitely a good idea. It made my training session the best one.

Zeeshan
