Hi Seniors,

I am working for a company where I don't have any seniors who can guide me to grow further in my stream. Can you please guide me about any magazines or sources from where I can get HR updates timely? Please provide me with a suggestion if I should continue with such an organization where there was no HR earlier, and the Boss also is not very interested in implementing it completely.

Hi,

If you have completed an MBA in HR, you can refer to your course books and implement all the theoretical knowledge you have gained. Although the company may not have specific HR rules in place, organizations typically operate based on certain fundamental principles. Try to familiarize yourself with these principles. Work on establishing systems, focus on administrative tasks, understand the company's operational rules, create an employee handbook, set up leave policies, and communicate with your boss to explain the benefits of a system-based organization.

Leaving should not be seen as the only solution. If you have an opportunity, make the most of it. If the organization lacks systems, take the initiative to create them. This experience will be invaluable for your growth.

You can also refer to resources like Human Capital and follow HR-related websites for further insights.

Hi Punam,

Don't you think it is a golden chance to showcase your capabilities, as there was no HR department to initiate systems, policies, and procedures which can be implemented wisely in the company? The interest of seniors can be developed with your work; present your work in a manner that they would have no choice but to implement or support the implementation part. We are all here for timely guidance as and when you require that, so bounce back and grab this opportunity to learn while you work.

Also, if you can provide some details about the company, products/services they deal in, is it a family-run organization? What have you worked on so far, is this your first job? Answers to all these will help us to support you better.

Hi Punam,

Even I am also in the same situation; I am the only HR and have no one to guide me too. Can anyone explain how to go about payroll and how to calculate the employee overheads?

Archana, this is a firm that has been run by a family. It's into website promotion. The employees are introverts. I need some employee engagement programs. Can you please suggest any? It would be great if you could guide me on how to proceed with things related to induction, timely appraisals, and so on.

Hi,

Thank you for your valuable suggestions.

Could anyone provide me with the skill matrix for workers (welder, fitter, helper, etc.) as I need to prepare a Skill Matrix for ISO Audit? Please provide me with the skills required for certain tasks.

Hi

Thanks for your feedback,

Please find the elaboration on Recruitment

RECRUITMENT

We receive the requirement from the required department first. It is issued by the dept head to HR dept. And a requisition form is made out that can comprise of the following tabs

1. Position:

2. Reporting to:

3. Department:

4. Experience Level:

5. Qualification :

6. Job Description:

7. Signature of the Department:

8. Approved By:

Before going to recruit from the other sources we have to check whether we can give promotions to internal employees or we can get any referrals from the employees to motivate them. That would be cost effective. we say it as job enlargement and it is cost effective, instead of appointing another one we can give the responsibilities because he knows all the procedures of that company.

Interview Evaluation Process

Evaluation of candidates can be based upon three things ASK( attitude, skills & knowledge)

Selection Process

• Applying Selection Methods

• Short listing the candidates for final interview

• Final interview – Explain the company benefits, salary negotiation, career planning
