Dear All HR Gurus,

Greetings of the day!

It's nice to find good information on this website. Please guide me on how to conduct manpower planning procedures in a Five-Star Hotel in Mumbai, which has 100 rooms, 03 restaurants, and 2 banquet halls.

How many staff members will be required for the following positions:
- Supervisor
- Executive
- Manager

Thank you,

Initially, you need to segregate the departments and try to appoint manager-level and executive-level staff; they will bring their teams. The planning should include:

Housekeeping: One housekeeper can manage 15 rooms per day, so a maximum of 6*3 staff in Housekeeping, totaling 22 staff, including supervisors and managers.

For services, check the number of covers in each restaurant and plan accordingly.

Front Office and Engineering should also be planned out.

Based on my knowledge, you can have a maximum of 200 staff across all departments.

Can anybody explain to me what should be the suitable manpower for a 70-room hotel? Department-wise, in housekeeping, how many staff should we recruit, including managers and supervisors? In the F&B department, if we have 2 restaurants operating 24 hours, how many staff should we recruit? In the Kitchen department, how many staff should we have, including the Executive Chef? Also, how many staff should we recruit for the Front Office? If we are maintaining a room ratio of 2, meaning we can recruit a total of 140 staff. Kindly help me with how I can segregate this manpower into departments.

Kindly assist me on an urgent basis.

Thanks and warm regards,
Vikas Kumar
